Profile

Simon Merchant, LLB (Hons) BSC (Hons)

After obtaining a degree in Management and Systems Science at City University in London, I returned to City University to study for a postgraduate degree in law.

In 1996 I started a two year training contract at Hawkins Russell Jones, a 13 partner firm based in Hertfordshire. Once qualified, I moved to Wallace & Partners, a niche commercial practice in central London, where I learnt the skills necessary to work for clients with a broad range of property interests.

I later moved to Nabarro Nathanson, a leading London law firm, attracted by its reputation as having one of the most respected teams of property solicitors in the UK. My work principally involved large regeneration projects in the Thames Gateway for new housing and businesses.

After many enjoyable years in the City I followed my long-term ambition to set up my own law firm, combining my legal skills with the management skills I learnt during my first degree.

I am married with three children and when I am not running my practice I look after my portfolio of buy-to-let properties.
